In this article, we present the best diving spots that we personally know and love.
The dive site at Bávaro is ideal for divers who want to experience the Caribbean reef in all its diversity. The water is warm year-round, visibility is excellent, and the underwater world surprises with enormous biodiversity. Here you'll encounter colorful parrotfish, barracudas, and occasionally even sea turtles. Entry is straightforward and well-suited for beginners.
The so-called Shark Point is one of the most exciting dive sites in the Dominican Republic. In a controlled and safe environment, you can observe Caribbean reef sharks up close. Experienced guides accompany every dive and ensure an unforgettable yet always safe experience. This spot is only recommended for certified divers with some experience.
Bayahibe is considered the diving capital of the Dominican Republic, and for good reason. The region offers a unique combination of reefs, wrecks, and open-water dives. The famous wreck of the St. George lies just a few minutes from shore and is an absolute highlight for every wreck diver. Visibility here often exceeds 30 meters.
The Peñón dive site is less well-known but absolutely worth visiting. Here you'll find pristine coral gardens and an underwater topography that thrills every diver. Steep drop-offs, caves, and overhangs make this spot an insider tip that we especially love showing to our groups.
Isla Catalina is famous for its "The Wall," a vertical drop-off that falls from 5 meters to over 40 meters depth. Along this wall, magnificent corals grow, and currents bring an abundance of marine life. This spot is especially popular with experienced divers and offers spectacular encounters with eagle rays and turtles.
Isla Saona is not only a dream above the water surface but also below it. The shallow, turquoise water around the island is excellent for snorkeling and shallow diving. Starfish, rays, and colorful reef fish populate the underwater meadows. A trip to Isla Saona can be wonderfully combined with a day excursion.
Cave and cenote diving in the Dominican Republic is a special kind of experience. In underground freshwater caves carved through limestone, you dive into a surreal world of stalactites and crystal-clear water. This diving style requires special training and is accompanied by certified guides in our packages.
The Dominican Republic offers a variety of dive sites that are unmatched worldwide. Whether you prefer relaxed reef diving or the thrill of a shark spot, you'll find both here. With our organized groups from Switzerland, you'll experience all these spots with professional guidance, in English, and with the quality you're accustomed to.
